The David West Campaign Team is pleased to announce that David West, our current Ward 4 Councillor, Richmond Hill, has registered as a candidate in the upcoming Mayoral by-election, scheduled to be held
January 24th, 2022. David has served as the Ward 4 Councillor for almost 8 years. Prior to becoming the Ward 4 Councillor, David served on many Richmond Hill Committees, both at the municipal and the community level. David also has extensive experience as a local business owner for over 25 years.
During his time on Council, David has consistently demonstrated his commitment to public service and the importance of representing his constituents. He has a solid record of advocating for his constituents and working with them to move Richmond Hill forward, while retaining the unique character and community spirit that makes this a special place. According to David “I knew when I first decided to put my name forward, to be the Ward 4 Councillor, that I was taking on an important role at a critical time for our community. Our city (then town) was growing rapidly, and we were welcoming new residents and businesses at a pace never experienced before. This growth brought both significant opportunity and significant challenges. I wanted to be involved in working with the Mayor, the other Councillors, city staff, businesses, community groups, and residents, to ensure we built the best place we possibly could to live, work and play. That goal has not changed today. While there have been many challenges over the past almost 8 years, as a city, we have many positive achievements to celebrate, and we can use those achievements to continue to evolve a community that works for all of its residents and businesses”.
David is committed to ensuring that the approach that has made him a Councillor who is respected for his representation of his constituents, his accessibility, and his commitment to “making things better”, will be sustained when he becomes Mayor. “Nothing is more important than listening to the residents and business owners of Richmond Hill. We have the opportunity to continue to grow this community and make it even better than
today. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with all residents and business owners to make Richmond Hill a place where we will all want to live. I fully appreciate this is not an easy road… but nothing worth doing ever is.”
Over the next couple of months, David will be working diligently to interact, both virtually and in-person, with residents and business owners across the city. “My hope is to meet and listen to as many people as possible over the next several months, leading up to the election on January 24th, 2022. Public service is in my blood, and I am looking forward to representing this city, that I love, as its new Mayor, and working with everyone to make Richmond Hill a community that continues to thrive both today and in the future.”
