I trusted David 21 years ago to take photos at my daughter’s wedding, and I trust him today to continue leading Richmond Hill.
As mayor he has provided stability and decorum in what was previously a dysfunctional council.  It is a new atmosphere in council, productive and well-meaning, benefiting Richmond Hill as a whole.

Mayor West has not invoked his ‘strong mayor’ powers (except on some budget matters) giving duly elected councillors the power to be the voice of their constituents, a sure sign that he believes in the democratic process.
David has also been open to meeting with residents on a more personal level, willing to communicate on residents’ issues as they relate to their own neighbourhoods and helping residents understand the policies in place.  Having previously been a member of the Committee of Adjustment, he knows how that committee impacts neighbourhoods and can discuss planning policies in a productive way.
As an active member of Big City Mayors, he participates in responses to Ontario government proposals as they impact Richmond Hill.  He is also active in York Region council.

In the last term while David has been Mayor, I’ve heard many residents praise David and what he brings to the table in that role: to me, he has brought together a productive council that work well together, has promoted ALL cultures in Richmond Hill, works well with residents and staff, and puts Richmond Hill first when dealing with new policies.  He has served us well as Mayor and I do not hesitate in promoting him again in that role.

Thanks, David, for your hard work.  I look forward to having you retain your role for another 4 years.

Pat Pollock, Resident of Richmond Hill
